RESUMO

Spike length (SL) is one of the most important agronomic traits affecting yield potential and stability in wheat. In this study, a major stable quantitative trait locus (QTL) for SL, i.e., qSl-2B, was detected in multiple environments in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) mapping population, KJ-RILs, derived from a cross between Kenong 9204 (KN9204) and Jing 411 (J411). The qSl-2B QTL was mapped to the 60.06-73.06 Mb region on chromosome 2B and could be identified in multiple mapping populations. An InDel molecular marker in the target region was developed based on a sequence analysis of the two parents. To further clarify the breeding use potential of qSl-2B, we analyzed its genetic effects and breeding selection effect using both the KJ-RIL population and a natural mapping population, which consisted of 316 breeding varieties/advanced lines. The results showed that the qSl-2B alleles from KN9204 showed inconsistent genetic effects on SL in the two mapping populations. Moreover, in the KJ-RILs population, the additive effects analysis of qSl-2B showed that additive effect was higher when both qSl-2D and qSl-5A harbor negative alleles under LN and HN. In China, a moderate selection utilization rate for qSl-2B was found in the Huanghuai winter wheat area and the selective utilization rate for qSl-2B continues to increase. The above findings provided a foundation for the genetic improvement of wheat SL in the future via molecular breeding strategies.

RESUMO

KEY MESSAGE: A total of 38 putative additive QTLs and 55 pairwise putative epistatic QTLs for tiller-related traits were reported, and the candidate genes underlying qMtn-KJ-5D, a novel major and stable QTL for maximum tiller number, were characterized. Tiller-related traits play an important role in determining the yield potential of wheat. Therefore, it is important to elucidate the genetic basis for tiller number when attempting to use genetic improvement as a tool for enhancing wheat yields. In this study, a quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis of three tiller-related traits was performed on the recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of a mapping population, referred to as KJ-RILs, that was derived from a cross between the Kenong 9204 (KN9204) and Jing 411 (J411) lines. A total of 38 putative additive QTLs and 55 pairwise putative epistatic QTLs for spike number per plant (SNPP), maximum tiller number (MTN), and ear-bearing tiller rate (EBTR) were detected in eight different environments. Among these QTLs with additive effects, three major and stable QTLs were first documented herein. Almost all but two pairwise epistatic QTLs showed minor interaction effects accounting for no more than 3.0% of the phenotypic variance. The genetic effects of two colocated major and stable QTLs, i.e., qSnpp-KJ-5D.1 and qMtn-KJ-5D, for yield-related traits were characterized. The breeding selection effect of the beneficial allele for the two QTLs was characterized, and its genetic effects on yield-related traits were evaluated. The candidate genes underlying qMtn-KJ-5D were predicted based on multi-omics data, and TraesKN5D01HG00080 was identified as a likely candidate gene. Overall, our results will help elucidate the genetic architecture of tiller-related traits and can be used to develop novel wheat varieties with high yields.

RESUMO

A novel and efficient approach for the synthesis of α, ß-unsaturated sulfones through heterogeneous photocatalyzed C-S coupling reactions have been developed. The use of molten-salt method derived carbon nitride (MCN), a transition metal-free polymeric photocatalyst, combined with enhanced crystallinity and potassium iodide as an additive, effectively modulates photogenerated reactive redox species, markedly increasing the overall reaction selectivity. This method achieves the shortest reaction time (2 h) with high yield (up to 95 %) among the reported heterogeneous catalytic C-S bond formation reactions, matching the efficiency of the homogeneous photocatalysts. Furthermore, the application to challenging alkyne substrates has been demonstrated, underscoring the potential for a broad range of applications in pharmaceutical research and synthetic chemistry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignant tumors, influenced by several genetic loci in its clinical phenotypes. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the MMP8 gene polymorphism and CRC risk in the Chinese Han population. METHOD: This study recruited 688 CRC patients and 690 healthy controls. The relationship between MMP8 polymorphism and CRC susceptibility was assessed by calculating the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) after stratifying by age, gender, body mass index (BMI), smoking, and alcohol consumption under a multi-genetic model. RESULTS: MMP8 rs3740938 was associated with increased CRC predisposition (p = 0.016, OR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.04-1.48), and this association was detected particularly in subjects aged > 60 years, females, people with BMI > 24 kg/m2, smokers, and drinkers. Moreover, rs3740938 was found to be associated with the pathological type of rectal cancer. CONCLUSIONS: Our results first displayed that rs3740938 in MMP8 was a risk factor for CRC predisposition. This finding may provide a new biological perspective for understanding the role of the MMP8 gene in CRC pathogenesis.

RESUMO

KEY MESSAGE: A major stable QTL for kernel number per spike was narrowed down to a 2.19-Mb region containing two potential candidate genes, and its effects on yield-related traits were characterized. Kernel number per spike (KNPS) in wheat is a key yield component. Dissection and characterization of major stable quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for KNPS would be of considerable value for the genetic improvement of yield potential using molecular breeding technology. We had previously reported a major stable QTL controlling KNPS, qKnps-4A. In the current study, primary fine-mapping analysis, based on the primary mapping population, located qKnps-4A to an interval of approximately 6.8-Mb from 649.0 to 655.8 Mb on chromosome 4A refering to 'Kenong 9204' genome. Further fine-mapping analysis based on a secondary mapping population narrowed qKnps-4A to an approximately 2.19-Mb interval from 653.72 to 655.91 Mb. Transcriptome sequencing, gene function annotation analysis and homologous gene related reports showed that TraesKN4A01HG38570 and TraesKN4A01HG38590 were most likely to be candidate genes of qKnps-4A. Phenotypic analysis based on paired near-isogenic lines in the target region showed that qKnps-4A increased KNPS mainly by increasing the number of central florets per spike. We also evaluated the effects of qKnps-4A on other yield-related traits. Moreover, we dissected the QTL cluster of qKnps-4A and qTkw-4A and proved that the phenotypic effects were probably due to close linkage of two or more genes rather than pleiotropic effects of a single gene. This study provides molecular marker resource for wheat molecular breeding designed to improve yield potential, and lay the foundation for gene functional analysis of qKnps-4A.

RESUMO

Carbon nitride (CN) polymers exhibit tunable and fascinating physicochemical properties and are thus an essential class of photocatalytic materials with potential applications. Although significant progress has been made in the fabrication of CN, the preparation of metal-free crystalline CN via a straightforward method remains a considerable challenge. Herein, we describe a new attempt to synthesize crystalline carbon nitride (CCN) with a well-developed structure through regulation of the polymerization kinetics. The synthetic process involves the pre-polymerization of melamine to remove most of the ammonia and further calcination of the pre-heated melamine in the presence of copper oxide as an ammonia absorbent. Copper oxide can decompose the ammonia produced by the polymerization process, thereby promoting the reaction. These conditions facilitate the polycondensation process while avoiding carbonization of the polymeric backbone at high temperatures. Owing to the high crystallinity, nanosheet structure, and efficient charge-carrier transmission capacity, the as-prepared CCN catalyst shows much higher photocatalytic activity than its counterparts. Our study provides a novel strategy for the rational design and synthesis of high-performance carbon nitride photocatalysts by simultaneously optimizing polymerization kinetics and crystallographic structures.

RESUMO

Light-driven fixation of CO2 in organics has emerged as an appealing alternative for the synthesis of value-added fine chemicals. Challenges remain in the transformation of CO2 as well as product selectivity due to its thermodynamic stability and kinetic inertness. Here we develop a boron carbonitride (BCN) with the abundant terminal B/N defects around the mesoporous walls, which essentially enhances surface active sites as well as charge transfer kinetics, boosting the overall rate of CO2 adsorption and activation. In this protocol, anti-Markovnikov hydrocarboxylation of alkenes with CO2 to an extended carbon chain is achieved with good functional group tolerance and specific regioselectivity under visible-light irradiation. The mechanistic studies demonstrate the formation of CO2 radical anion intermediate on defective boron carbonitride, leading to the anti-Markovnikov carboxylation. Gram-scale reaction, late-stage carboxylation of natural products and synthesis of anti-diabetic GPR40 agonists reveal the utility of this method. This study sheds new insight on the design and application of metal-free semiconductors for the conversion of CO2 in an atom-economic and sustainable manner.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of complete resection of bone tumor in pelvic zone Ⅱ and reconstruction with allogeneic pelvis, modular prosthesis, and three-dimensional (3D) printing prosthesis. Methods: The clinical data of 13 patients with primary bone tumor in pelvic zone Ⅱ who underwent tumor resection and acetabular reconstruction between March 2011 and March 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 4 males and 9 females with an average age of 39.0 years ranging from 16 to 59 years. There were 4 cases of giant cell tumor, 5 cases of chondrosarcoma, 2 cases of osteosarcoma, and 2 cases of Ewing sarcoma. The Enneking classification of pelvic tumors showed that 4 cases involved zone Ⅱ, 4 cases involved zone Ⅰ and zone Ⅱ, and 5 cases involved zone Ⅱ and zone Ⅲ. The disease duration ranged from 1 to 24 months, with an average of 9.5 months. The patients were followed up to observe the recurrence and metastasis of the tumor, and the imaging examination was performed to observe the status of implant in place, fracture, bone resorption, bone nonunion, and so on. The improvement of hip pain was evaluated by visual analogue scale (VAS) score before operation and at 1 week after operation, and the recovery of hip function was evaluated according to the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) scoring system after operation. Results: The operation time was 4-7 hours, with an average of 4.6 hours; the intraoperative blood loss ranged from 800 to 1 600 mL, with an average of 1 200.0 mL. There was no reoperation or death after operation. All patients were followed up 9-60 months (mean, 33.5 months). No tumor metastasis was found in 4 patients receiving chemotherapy during follow-up. Postoperative wound infection occurred in 1 case, and prosthesis dislocation occurred in 1 case at 1 month after prosthesis replacement. One case of giant cell tumor recurred at 12 months after operation, and the puncture biopsy showed malignant transformation of giant cell tumor, and hemipelvic amputation was performed. The postoperative hip pain significantly relieved, and the VAS score was 6.1±0.9 at 1 week after operation, which was significantly different from the preoperative score (8.2±1.3) ( t=9.699, P<0.001). At 12 months after operation, the MSTS score was 23.0±2.1, including 22.8±2.1 for patients with allogenic pelvis reconstruction and 23.3±2.3 for patients with prosthsis reconstruction. There was no significant difference in the MSTS score between the two reconstruction methods ( t=0.450, P=0.516). At last follow-up, 5 patients could walk with cane assistance and 7 patients could walk without cane assistance. Conclusion: The resection and reconstruction of primary bone tumor in pelvic zone Ⅱ can obtain satisfactory hip function, and the interface of allogeneic pelvis and 3D printing prosthesis have better bone ingrowth, which is more in line with the requirements of biomechanics and biological reconstruction. However, pelvis reconstruction is difficult, the patient's condition should be evaluated comprehensively before operation, and the long-term effectiveness needs further follow-up.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Survival and reconstruction in osteosarcoma is quite challenging. The study aimed to investigate the prognosis in patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy and determine the clinical outcomes of expandable endoprosthesis reconstruction in children. METHODS: From January 2009 to December 2014, we retrospectively analyzed 29 skeletally immature children (mean age, 10.5 years; range, 6-15 years) with osteosarcoma around the knee. Of the 29 patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy and limb salvage surgery, an expandable prosthesis was implanted for reconstruction. No patients were missed during follow-up. The evaluation index involved follow-up time, complication, functional results, and lengthening procedures. The survivorship and recurrence were assessed by GraphPad Software, and the function was evaluated by the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) scoring system. RESULTS: A mean follow-up time was 8.9 years (range, 6-12 years), and the overall 5-year survival was 89.1% based on Kaplan-Meier analysis. Three patients suffered a relapse and one underwent amputation. Lung metastasis developed in one patient. At 6 months after the operation, patients had a mean MSTS score of 27 points (range, 24-29). Two patients underwent revision surgery, one for implant infection and one for aseptic loosening. Prognosis is correlated with alkaline phosphatase change after treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Chemotherapy scheme and limb salvage can achieve high survival rates. This expandable prosthesis was associated with good function and low complication rates. The character of expandability could be a method to overcome discrepancies in the growth period.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In China, gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignant tumors. This study aimed to explore the relationship of rs2297810, rs4646491 and rs2297809 polymorphisms of CYP4B1 with susceptibility to GC in the Chinese Han population. METHODS: A case-control study including 707 GC cases and 707 normal controls was conducted. Three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were genotyped by Agena MassARRAY system. Logistic regression analysis was utilized to assess the effects of SNPs on GC risk. Furthermore, multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) approach was used to analyze the SNP-SNP interactions. RESULTS: No significant relationships were found between rs2297810 and rs2297809 and GC risk under all genetic models. For rs4646491, people with TC genotype had a 1.40-fold higher risk of GC than those with CC genotype (OR = 1.40; 95% CI = 1.13-1.74; p = 0.002), and people with TT-TC genotype had a 1.30-fold higher risk of GC than those with CC genotype (OR = 1.30; 95% CI = 1.06-1.61; p = 0.014). Stratification results showed that GC risk in people carrying TC genotype was higher than that in people with CC genotype, males (OR = 1.36; 95% CI = 1.06-1.75; p = 0.015), non-smokers (OR = 1.52; 95% CI = 1.11-2.07; p = 0.009) and non-drinkers (OR = 1.50; 95% CI = 1.10-2.04; p = 0.010). Additionally, the study also revealed that GC risk in people carrying TT-TC genotype was higher than that in people with CC genotype, males (OR = 1.29; 95% CI = 1.01-1.64; p = 0.040), non-smokers (OR = 1.40; 95% CI = 1.04-1.89; p = 0.027) and non-drinkers (OR = 1.39; 95% CI = 1.03-1.87; p = 0.030). CONCLUSION: This study firstly found that CYP4B1-rs4646491 was significantly correlated with GC risk, and it might be a risk factor for GC.

RESUMO

Employee wellbeing is a crucial determinant in overall organizational performance. However, in the construction Industry, it is damaged by hazardous and stressful work environment. This study aims to explore how ethical leadership influences and thus could enhance employee wellbeing through perceived organizational support (POS). We proposed several hypotheses and developed the research framework accordingly. To test the hypotheses, an elaborately designed survey was used to collect quantitative data from 194 employees in the construction companies in China. Our results show that ethical leadership is positively related to the employee wellbeing. This study further reveals a remarkable indirect effect of ethical leadership on employee wellbeing via the mediating POS. Consequently, our findings suggest that, to enhance employee wellbeing, ethical leaders can develop a relaxing ethical environment and provide sufficient organizational support to the employees.

RESUMO

The use of metal-free carbon nitride and light to drive catalytic transformations constitutes a sustainable strategy for organic synthesis. At the moment, enhancing the intrinsic activity of CN catalysts by tuning the interfacial coupling between catalyst and substrate remains challenging. Herein, we demonstrate that urea-derived carbon nitride catalysts with the abundant -NH2 groups and the relative positive charged surface could effectively complex with the deprotonated anionic intermediate to improve the adsorption of organic reactants on the catalyst surface. The decreased oxidation potential and upshift in its highest occupied molecular orbital position make the electron abstraction kinetics by the catalyst more energetically favorable. The prepared catalyst is thus utilized for the photocatalytic cyclization of nitrogen-centered radicals for the synthesis of diverse pharmaceutical-related compounds (33 examples) with high activity and reusability, which shows competent performance to the homogeneous catalysts.

RESUMO

For children aged 7-8 years in China, "immobility" is a key problem hindering their physical and mental development in recent years. It is widely accepted that motor performance development in children is accompanied by physical and mental growth and development. However, few studies have clarified the relationship among motor behavior, motor development and motor performance. To bridge this knowledge gap, an empirical analysis of children aged 7-8 years in China was conducted. This study developed scales for testing motor performance, motor behavior and motor performance, respectively, and collected data of these tests on children aged 7-8 years in China. Canonical correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlations among motor performance, motor behavior and motor performance, and partial least squares regression was used to evaluate the relationship between dependent and independent variables. It was found that, for the children aged 7-8 years in China, there were significant positive correlations among the motor performance, motor behavior, and motor development. The three tests were closely related and could be applied to promote children's sports performance through improved training activities for targeting specific indicators. The study found there was no significant differences in the application of the three tests for children with different age and gender. This finding lays a foundation for further testing in older children and meets the measurement requirements of modern medicine's "bio-psycho-social model of health promotion". Additionally, the theoretical motional quotient model of "The Bio-Behavior-Task" is constructed as a comprehensive motor performance evaluation system, aligning with students' physical and mental development standards.

Methods: From July 2016 to November 2018, patients with acute left heart failure complicated with hypoxemia treated in the Department of Critical Medicine of Yantai Affiliated Hospital of Binzhou Medical University were retrospectively observed (a total of 140 cases met the inclusion criteria). They were randomly divided into two groups, with 70 cases in each group. Patients were given continuous ECG monitoring, improved blood gas analysis test, and recorded HR, RR, map, SaO2, pH, PaO2, PaCO2, and Lac, perfect examination and color Doppler echocardiography, and record NT-proBNP and EF before and 24 hours after treatment. The effective rates of the two groups before and after oxygen therapy were detected. Results: There were 67 patients with high-flow oxygen therapy group improvement, 95.7% improvement rate, and 55 patients with general oxygen therapy group improvement rate. The treatment improvement rate was 78.6%. A total of 67 patients were treated with high-flow oxygen therapy. After high-flow oxygen therapy, HR (t = 18.8, P ≤ 0.05), RR (t = 19.7, P ≤ 0.05), MAP (t = 12.1, P ≤ 0.05), PaCO2 (t = 9.53, P ≤ 0.05), Lac (t = 8.69, P ≤ 0.05), and NT-proBNP (t = 7.03, P ≤ 0.05) were significantly lower than before. SaO2 (t = -12.4, P ≤ 0.05), pH (t = -12.2, P ≤ 0.05), PaO2 (t = -17.7, P ≤ 0.05), and EF (t = -13.4, P ≤ 0.05) were significantly higher than before. A total of 55 patients were in the general oxygen therapy group. After administration of ordinary oxygen therapy, HR (t = 18.2, P ≤ 0.05), RR (t = 10.8, P ≤ 0.05), MAP (t = 13.1, P ≤ 0.05), PaCO2 (t = 15.8, P ≤ 0.05), Lac (t = 7.1, P ≤ 0.05), and NT-proBNP (t = 10, P ≤ 0.05) were significantly lower than before. SaO2 (t = -15.5, P ≤ 0.05), pH (t = -4.5, P ≤ 0.05), PaO2 (t = -20, P ≤ 0.05), and EF value (t = -7.7, P ≤ 0.05) were significantly higher than before. Conclusion: High-flow oxygen therapy and general oxygen therapy have an obvious curative effect on patients with acute left heart failure and hypoxemia. Compared with the two, high-flow oxygen therapy is more effective. After high-flow oxygen therapy and general oxygen therapy in patients with acute left heart failure and hypoxia, HR, RR, MAP, SaO2, pH, PaO2, PaCO2, Lac, EF, and NT-proBNP value all improved, and the improvement of high-flow oxygen therapy was greater.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair has recently been popularized for treating tears. In a biomechanical trial, the Mason-Allen stitch improved the fixation quality of poorly vascularized tendons. The use of this technique involving the subscapularis tendon remains rare. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of Mason-Allen technique repaired subscapularis tendons. METHODS: A retrospective research of collected data from 98 patients with subscapularis tears who had undergone arthroscopic repair between May 2015 and December 2018. There were 75 males and 23 females. The mean age was 56.4 ± 9.6 years and the mean follow-up was 12.5 ± 4.0 months. The visual analog scale (VAS), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, and Constant-Murley score were used to analyze shoulder function. An MRI was performed to assess the integrity of the repair. RESULTS: Patients had significantly less pain and a better active range of motion compared with preoperative levels. VAS improved significantly from a preoperative mean of 3.42 to a postoperative mean of 1.91. ASES increased significantly from the preoperative mean of 43.6 to the postoperative mean of 74.5. Seven cases suffered from retears, which were confirmed by an MRI examination. CONCLUSION: Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with the Mason-Allen method resulted in a decreased level of pain and satisfied function recovery.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Suppressor 3 of cytokine signaling (SOCS3) hypermethylation has been reported to participate in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development and progression, but conflicting results were published. This study aimed to analyze the clinical effects of SOCS3 hypermethylation in HCC and the effects of sex and age on SOCS3 hypermethylation in HCC. METHODS: Databases were searched for relevant case-control and cohort studies on SOCS3 hypermethylation in HBV-related HCC. In vitro and in vivo studies and studies of patients with serious comorbidities were excluded. Review Manager 5.2 was used to estimate the effects of the results among the selected studies. Forest plots, sensitivity analysis, and bias analysis for the included studies were also conducted. RESULTS: Finally, 8 relevant studies met the inclusion criteria. A significant difference in SOCS3 hypermethylation in HCC was found between tumor and nontumor groups (the odds ratio [OR] = 2.01, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.48-2.73, P < .00001; P for heterogeneity = .39, I2 = 5%). The meta-analysis suggested no significant difference in the effect of sex (OR = 1.00, 95% CI: 0.76-1.31, P = .76; P for heterogeneity = .44, I2 = 0%) and age on SOCS3 hypermethylation in HCC (OR = 1.11, 100% CI: 0.78-1.29, P = .03; P for heterogeneity = .14, I2 = 36%). Limited publication bias was observed in this study. CONCLUSION: SOCS3 hypermethylation is associated with HBV-related HCC. Sex and age do not affect the association between SOCS3 hypermethylation and HCC. SOCS3 might be a treatment target for HCC.

RESUMO

A facile and efficient quinoline-fused 4H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazine has been successfully fabricated through an oxidative O-arylation, Pd-catalyzed double N-arylation of 4-hydroxyquinoline derivatives and trivalent aryl iodides. Diversified fused heterocycles could be easily constructed in overall high isolated yields with great substrate scope. The afforded heteroatom-"doped" phenoxazine 3 demonstrated high molar absorptivities and excellent stability and redox reversibility. These phenoxazine analogues therefore could be utilized as promising catalysts in the photoredox catalyzed perfluoroalkylation of heteroarenes and photopromoted radical polymerization (OATRP).

RESUMO

Recently, the bismuth-based (Bi-based) Z-scheme photocatalysts have been paid great attention due to their good solar energy utilization capacity, the high separation rate of their photogenerated hole-electron pairs, and strong redox ability. They are considerably more promising materials than single semiconductors for alleviating the energy crisis and environmental deterioration by efficiently utilizing sunlight to motivate various photocatalytic reactions for energy production and pollutant removal. In this review, the traits and recent research progress of Bi-based semiconductors and recent achievements in the synthesis methods of Bi-based direct Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts are explored. The recent photocatalytic applications development of Bi-based Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts in environmental pollutants removal and detection, water splitting, CO2 reduction, and air (NOx) purification are also described concisely. The challenges and future perspective in the studies of Bi-based Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts are discussed and summarized in the conclusion of this mini review.

RESUMO

A Cu-catalyzed aerobic oxidative cyclization of ß,γ-unsaturated hydrazones for the preparation of pyrazole derivatives has been developed. The hydrazonyl radical promoted the cyclization, along with a concomitant C═C bond cleavage of ß,γ-unsaturated hydrazones. This process has been verified via several control experiments, including a radical-trapping study, an 18O-labeling method, and the identification of the possible byproducts. The advantages of this reaction include operational simplicity, a broad reaction scope, and a mild selective reaction process.

RESUMO

We present here a combined mitogenome gene order dataset totalling 62% of the known genera of East Asian potamiscine freshwater crabs that includes first-time mitogenome data for 14 species and gene order data from 37 other species of potamiscines. A surprisingly high number of mitogenome gene order rearrangements were found in the taxa studied (comprising nine different rearrangements and seven major patterns, one of which has two sub-arrangements). Our phylogenetic reconstructions indicate that the mitogenome gene order rearrangements are associated with the evolutionary history of potamiscine lineages. We also used a new Event-based Maximum Parsimony method to reconstruct ancestral gene orders, which takes into consideration gene duplication, pseudogeneticization, and tandem duplication random loss. Furthermore, shared mitogenome gene order patterns were used to inform the taxonomic placement of Sinopotamon parvum, and the cryptic diversity in Potamiscus. The remarkably frequent mitogenome rearrangements in potamiscine freshwater crabs have great potential to contribute to our understanding of the evolutionary history of these highly diverse decapods in East Asia.
